Reflecting on CareWindow's Experience at ARIIA 2023: A Future-Focused Journey

CareWindow's participation in the inaugural ARIIA Conference, held on May 15 & 16 in Adelaide, marked a significant milestone in our ongoing mission to revolutionise aged care. The event, themed "Facing the Future: Aged Care 2030 and Beyond," provided an unparalleled opportunity to engage with a world-class lineup of thinkers, industry experts, and innovators dedicated to redefining positive ageing. Our excitement to be part of this pioneering conference was matched only by our eagerness to contribute to shaping a future where age does not define an individual.

A Program of Inspiration and Innovation

The ARIIA 2023 conference was a testament to the power of collective thought and innovation, featuring 13 engaging keynotes and 6 concurrent think tank sessions over two exciting days. The conference agenda was meticulously designed to address the evolving needs of the ageing population, particularly the Baby Boomers, who defy traditional ageing stereotypes with their professional backgrounds, active lifestyles, and tech-savviness.

With 14 think tank speakers leading discussions on various critical topics, the program promised β€” and delivered β€” deep insights into the future of aged care. Among these were sessions on "Person-centred Living for Dementia," "Embracing Diversity for Positive Ageing," and "Innovation for End of Life & Palliative Care," each providing practical solutions for attendees to implement in their own contexts.

Engaging with Experts and Visionaries

The presence of distinguished guest speakers like Ita Buttrose AC, OBE, Ross Dawson, and Dawn Fraser AC MBE, among others, elevated the conference experience. Their diverse perspectives enriched our understanding of the multifaceted challenges and opportunities within aged care. Jean Kitson AM, as the Master of Ceremonies, adeptly navigated the discussions, ensuring that every session was not only informative but also deeply engaging.

CareWindow's Commitment to Positive Ageing

For CareWindow, ARIIA 2023 was more than just a conference; it was a clarion call to action. The insights garnered from sessions on mental health, social isolation, and the dignity of risk in community care resonated deeply with our ethos of providing care that upholds dignity, fosters independence, and celebrates individuality. The think tank sessions, in particular, offered us tangible strategies to enhance our services and better meet the needs of those we serve.

A Unified Vision for the Future

The conference's focus on innovation, from digital technology to advanced manufacturing and robotics in aged care, aligns with our vision of leveraging technology to improve quality of life. The discussions around workforce development and embracing diversity also highlighted the importance of a compassionate, skilled, and inclusive care community β€” principles that CareWindow champions tirelessly.

Looking Ahead

As we reflect on our time at ARIIA 2023, we are filled with a renewed sense of purpose and optimism for the future of aged care. The conversations, connections, and collaborations fostered during the conference have not only inspired us but also equipped us with new tools and ideas to continue our work with more passion and precision. We are grateful for the opportunity to have been part of such a forward-thinking community of professionals committed to making a real impact on the lives of older adults.

In the spirit of the conference, CareWindow is more dedicated than ever to contributing to a future where ageing is not about decline but about living well, with abundant personal lifestyle and care choices. Together, with the insights and inspiration from ARIIA 2023, we are poised to face the future of aged care β€” 2030 and beyond β€” with innovative solutions that address the changing needs of our ageing world.
